Titus Andronicus

After a hard-fought campaign against the Goths, Titus Andronicus returns home to find the Emperor dead and Rome transformed into a city obsessed with opulence and power. With the Queen of the Goths and her sons as hostages, Titus murders her eldest son in religious sacrifice and spurs a cycle of revenge that results in the destruction of his own family. This theatrical event serves up heads, hands, and tongues in what is known as Shakespeare's bloodiest play. Using baroque opera as a soundtrack and specially-crafted film clips to provide an alternate window through which to see this story of tragic violence, StanShakes' production of Titus Andronicus embraces the intricacy of human relationships and addresses timeless themes of family, honor, vengeance, defeat, and above all, the lessons that can be learned from tragedy.
